For İlhan Sami Çomak by Thurston Moore

Released and reinvented to no state,
she clamored up on her girlfriend’s shoulders
to hold a torch, pointing at the prancing troubadour
and singing praise to the wilderness.

It was in nature her truth was told
but the animals had been herded for meat confusion,
the psychosis in the transference of their bodies
to the imperialism of man had clouded the organic soul.

She had plans to start a band to keep the peace,
strange but true and the singer in his mind,
in bird song mystic, thought the line, I love you.

Bio: Thurston Moore founded the New York City
music group Sonic Youth. His most recent release
is Spirit Counsel. He teaches writing at the
Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics.
